02What you buy
A rated pack is a zip file for one part number (SKU). It contains:
a STEP 3D solid of that exact part,
a load-rated A4 drawing (PDF) carrying its ratings, material and fabrication data, and
the FEA report behind the rating (stress, deflection, factor of safety, buckling, method).
The part number on the checkout page is the part you buy. Check it before you pay: the size, material and
bolt are all in the number. The flat DXF cut files are free and are not part of any sale; sections 6 and 8
apply to them too.
We sell files, not parts. We do not cut, weld, supply or install anything.
03Price & payment
Rated pack
Price, VAT included
UL truss gusset (MK-G)
R175.00
All prices are in South African rand and include VAT at 15%. There are no delivery costs,
fees or other charges.
The price you pay is the one shown on the checkout page, together with its VAT split. The price is set on
our server for the part number; a figure shown elsewhere on the site is for information only.
Payment is by card or instant EFT through Payfast, a registered South African payment gateway, on
Payfast’s own secure pages. We never see or store your card or bank details.
Before you pay you can see the part number, what is in the pack and the full price, and you can go back or
cancel at any point until you confirm payment on Payfast’s page.
A tax invoice is issued automatically when your payment is confirmed. It is in your email and at a
link on your download page. Keep it: it is your record of the transaction.
04Delivery
Delivery is by download only. As soon as Payfast confirms the payment (usually within seconds),
your download page shows the link and we email it to the address you gave at checkout, with your invoice.
The download link works for 48 hours after payment and may be used more than once in that
time.
If the link runs out, the email does not arrive, or the file will not download, mail forge@makanik.co.za with your
invoice number and we will send the pack directly, at no charge.
If for any reason we cannot deliver your pack within 30 days of your order, we will tell you and
refund you in full.
05Cancellation & refunds
Not downloaded yet? You may cancel for any reason, with no fee, within 7 days of payment,
provided the pack has not been downloaded. We refund the full price.
Once downloaded. A file cannot be returned once you have it. At checkout you are asked to confirm that
the pack is delivered immediately and that you accept these terms. By downloading the pack you agree that the
7-day cooling-off right no longer applies to it, as permitted by section 42(2) of the Electronic Communications
and Transactions Act, 2002. This does not affect your rights below.
Downloaded or not, we will replace the file or refund you in full if:
the file is corrupt, incomplete or will not open in standard CAD / PDF software,
the pack is not the part number you paid for,
you were charged more than once for the same order, or
you paid and did not receive the pack (section 4).
How to ask. Mail forge@makanik.co.za with your invoice number and a line on what went wrong. We check our
download record for the order and reply within 5 working days. Approved refunds are paid back to the card or
account you paid with, through Payfast, within 30 days, and we issue a credit note against your invoice.
Please contact us before disputing a payment with your bank. We would rather fix it directly, and it is
usually faster.
06Using the engineering data
We rate the design. The ratings apply to the part exactly as drawn, in the stated
material, made and welded as the drawing states, and loaded as the drawing shows. Loads not shown are not
rated.
The host structure the part is fitted to (pipe, plate, frame), its welding and its installation are
your structure and your check. Where the drawing states a minimum host wall or weld, it is a condition
of the rating.
Parts are not for lifting or overhead life-safety use unless independently certified for it.
You, or the engineer responsible for your design, must verify the part is fit for your application,
including loads, fatigue, corrosion, temperature and any code your project must meet.
Our method is our own specification, stated in each FEA report. It is not a copy of a national standard,
and the report says which criterion governs each rating.
07Licence
When you buy a pack you may use its files to design, make and have made that part, for your own projects and
for your customers, as often as you like. You may include the part in your own drawings and models.
You may not resell, republish, share for download or re-brand the files or the FEA report, or present them
as your own analysis. The files, drawings and reports remain the copyright of MAKANIK (Pty) Ltd.
08Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising from a purchase is limited to the price you paid for
that pack, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss arising from how a part is
fabricated, welded, installed or used. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be excluded
under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002.
09Privacy
We collect as little as the sale needs, under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Your email address (at checkout) is passed to Payfast with the order, used once to send your
download link and tax invoice, and is not written to any file or list on our side. We do not send
marketing.
Payment details are handled by Payfast under its own privacy policy. We receive only the result of the
payment and Payfast’s reference number.
Tax invoices carry no buyer name, address or email. We keep them for 5 years, as tax law requires.
Server records. For security, fraud prevention and to settle refund questions, our server records the
order, the part number, the time, whether and when a pack was downloaded, and the IP address and browser type
of the request. These records are not shared or sold.
Visit counts. So we can see which parts people look at, the shop page records each visit and click
(page opened, part opened, file downloaded, buy pressed), the name of the website that sent you, and whether
you are on a phone or a computer. It stores no IP address and sets no cookie: each visit carries
a code that changes every day and is not used to identify you. These counts are not shared or sold.
Enquiries. If you use an enquiry form, your name, email and message are sent to our inbox so we can
reply, and kept only as long as the conversation needs.
Cookies. The shop sets no tracking or advertising cookies. A single cookie is set only if you redeem an
access pass, so the site can recognise it.
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, at forge@makanik.co.za.
You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Security. The site is served over HTTPS, payment takes place on Payfast’s secure pages, and paid
files are only released through time-limited, signed download links.
10Disputes, law & changes
If something is wrong, mail forge@makanik.co.za first. We will try to resolve it within 5 working days.
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Your rights under the Consumer Protection
Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act are not affected.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one in force when you paid;
its date is recorded with your order.
